The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra Presented the Decarb Track Project at the Procurement Forum 2025

On October 17, 2025, representatives of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra attended the prestigious Procurement Forum 2025, which took place from October 14-16 in Jasná. The event is among the most significant public procurement conferences in Slovakia.

One of the topics discussed was green public procurement in the agri-food sector, where the university presented its research project Decarb Track – Low-Emission Future (project no. 09I04-03-V02-00054).

The project, funded by the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan, focuses on reducing emissions and decarbonization in the agri-food industry. The goal is to help Slovak agri-food businesses monitor and reduce their carbon footprint in line with European Union requirements for environmentally sustainable public procurement (GPP).

Through an electronic carbon footprint calculator, which will be made available in 2026, the project will offer a practical tool for businesses that want to obtain scientifically-backed data on their emissions and recommendations for reducing them.
